A Brief Summary of Stardust on the Sage Movie

Stardust on the Sage is a remake of a 1937 Republic film entitled Git Along Little Dogies, which also starred Gene Autry and Smiley Burnette. The screenplay was written by Betty Burbridge, based on a story by Dorrell and Stuart E. McGowan. The film was directed by William Morgan and produced by Harry Grey.

The film's plot revolves around Gene Autry (Gene Autry), a radio star and leader of the cattlemen, who is deceived in business by Jeff Drew (William Henry), the local agent of the packing company. Jeff uses funds derived from the sale of beef-on-the-hoof to dabble in the development of a mining property. Gene and Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette) are troubled when they learn their rancher friends are investing their hard-earned money in the hydraulic-mining venture instead of cattle. Jeff's two sisters, Nancy (Louise Currie) and Judy (Edith Fellows), lend support to him through the radio station they own. They take advantage of Gene by altering what he actually said to an on-air recording promoting the sale of the mining stock. Gene eventually learns that the dishonesty of mine-manager Dan Pearson (Emmett Vogan) is behind all the problems.

The film's cast also includes George Ernest as Curly, Vince Barnett as Abner Haskins, Betty Farrington as Mrs. Haskins, Roy Barcroft as Murphy, Tom London as MacGowan, Griff Barnett as Larkin, Fred Burns as Rancher, Ken Card as 2nd Guitar Player, Ed Cassidy as Steve Burns, Champion as Champ, Edmund Cobb as Dawson, Carl Cotner as Musician, and others.
