How to Install and Use ArchVision RPC for 3ds Max 2014

ArchVision RPC is a plugin that allows you to add realistic 3D content such as trees, people, and cars to your 3ds Max scenes. In this article, we will show you how to install and use ArchVision RPC for 3ds Max 2014.

Step 1: Download and Install the RPC Plugin

To use ArchVision RPC in 3ds Max 2014, you need to download and install the RPC plugin for 3ds Max. You can get it from the ArchVision Download Page or from the AVAIL Installers channel in AVAIL Desktop[^1^]. AVAIL Desktop is a software that helps you manage your ArchVision RPC content and licenses.

Once you have downloaded the RPC plugin for 3ds Max, double-click the EXE file to start the installation process. Select Run from the Security Warning dialog box if it pops up. Review the license terms and conditions and indicate that you agree to them. Then choose which versions of 3ds Max you want to install RPC for and click Install[^1^]. The installation will take a few minutes.

Step 2: Activate Your RPC License

After installing the RPC plugin for 3ds Max, you need to activate your RPC license. You can do this by opening AVAIL Desktop and logging in with your ArchVision credentials. If you don't have an account, you can create one for free on the ArchVision website.

In AVAIL Desktop, go to the Settings tab and click on Licenses. You will see your available RPC licenses and their expiration dates. Click on Activate License to activate your RPC license for 3ds Max[^1^]. You can also deactivate your license if you want to use it on another computer.

Step 3: Add RPC Content to Your Scene

Now that you have installed and activated your RPC plugin and license, you can start adding RPC content to your 3ds Max scene. You can do this by using AVAIL Desktop or the AVAIL Browser for 3ds Max.

AVAIL Desktop is a standalone application that lets you browse, search, and drag-and-drop RPC content into your scene. You can also create custom channels and collections of your favorite RPC content for easy access[^1^]. To use AVAIL Desktop, simply open it and drag-and-drop any RPC content from the Channels tab into your 3ds Max viewport.

The AVAIL Browser for 3ds Max is an optional plugin that integrates with 3ds Max and lets you access your RPC content from within the software. You can install it from the same place as the RPC plugin for 3ds Max. To use the AVAIL Browser for 3ds Max, open 3ds Max and go to Customize > Customize User Interface > Toolbars. Find the AVAIL Browser category and drag-and-drop the AVAIL Browser button onto any toolbar. Then click on the button to open the AVAIL Browser window. From there, you can browse, search, and drag-and-drop any RPC content into your scene[^1^].

Step 4: Adjust Your RPC Settings

Once you have added some RPC content to your scene, you can adjust their settings using the ArchVision Dashboard or the Modify panel in 3ds Max. The ArchVision Dashboard is a tool that lets you control various aspects of your RPC content such as appearance, animation, lighting, rendering, and licensing[^1^]. To open the ArchVision Dashboard, go to Start > All Programs > ArchVision > Dashboard.

In the ArchVision Dashboard, you can select any RPC content in your scene and change its settings using the tabs on the right side of the window. For example, you can change its scale, rotation, position, color, opacity, brightness, shadow intensity, motion blur, render quality, and more[^1^]. You can also preview how your RPC content will look in different renderers such as Scanline, Mental Ray, V-Ray, Corona, etc.
